I'm in the process of re-writing a short story and converting it into a play for radio. My ultimate aim is to enter it in the BBC International Radio Playwriting Competition. This will be my second attempt and one of my main problems is the format for writing a radio script. If anyone has attempted or written a script for radio, would appreciate any help or perhaps steer me to appropriate sites.

In case anyone wants to try their hand and enter: http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/specialreports/radioplay_2008.shtml

You can download free scriptwriting software from Celtx:

http://celtx.com/.

It has different formats, including radio play.

Thanks for the link and good luck with it.

Thank *you* for the information. I'm at the very beginning stages of the project and it seems like the story is going to require a complete rewrite as a radio play, including the addition of characters. So far I've managed to produce 6 pages, which is a start. Usually I get to a point where I start doubting what has been written and my ability thereof, and end up scrapping the idea. My motivation as it now stands is that I love the story line.

I've also got a playwriting blog in which I share my angst and inadequacies writing plays in general and am providing updates on my progress (or none as the case may be) hopefully on a regular basis.

I feel so naked opening it up to people. Are you planning to enter, btw?

Haven't decided yet.  I wrote my first play recently but it's probably too long for this so I'd need to write something new.
