I've posted information about this fest in the submissions spree site and have already had several submissions so thanks. But in case you aren't chasing the submissions spree here goes again.
I'm working with a community theatre company in Wagga Australia and we're planning a short play festival for November. because of shortage of performance space the idea at this stage is to stage plays in situ and to take the audience from place to place by bus.
The format is simple, a short play say no longer than 12 minutes and yes we will pay royalties.
In the light of a previous discussion on this board we'll pay A$50 for the 5 performance run for each play used or ten percent of the share of the box office, which ever is the greater. We're also hopeful of having a bonus payment in the form of the audience pick of the best play. We'll charge them a dollar a program and that will have a voting slip and the winning author takes the pot.
We've been producing for better than 60 years and our web site http://www.soact.com.au will give you a snap shot of us but as yet there is no info on the short play festival posted.
If you'd like to submit email me at email@example.com mark the email play fest submission and I promise to respond immediately and to let you have a yes or no by July.
The course of true love as they say... when you're working with a group of people and there have been differences over the make up of this festival. We've done a selection and I'm in the process of asking some writers whether or not they'd be prepared to allow us to keep their plays on file against future use. There really are some first rate submissions and I think it is a waste to simply call for fresh submissions every time you want to do something.
I'm about half way through Billy but have been surprised at the number of emails that have bounced back and the number of people who sent submissions with no contact at all save their name.
I do apologise for the delay but you can expect to hear at the weekend at the latest
