City Rep, a new NYC-based theater company, is seeking submissions of short plays for a themed evening of shorts centered around the general subject of "life in the theater."
Length: plays should be around 5-10 minutes in length, although we'll consider longer pieces if they're absolutely ideal for the evening.
Advice: Plays must deal with (or at least touch on) some aspect of life in the theater. Feel free to interpret that as creatively and broadly as you'd like--while we're obviously interested in pieces that are "on the nose" subject-wise, we're also interested in pieces that use the subject as a jumping-off point to take us somewhere unexpected.
The evening will be presented in NYC with professional (AEA) actors and open to reviewers, so we're looking first and foremost for excellent writing.
No excerpts/scenes from full-length plays. No cast size larger than 6.
Compensation: very small royalty/stipend
Deadline: ASAP
Submission Info: send bio and complete play as PDF or Text file (no MS Word documents, please) to CityRepNYC@gmail.com.
