CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Sweetness & Light Productions
Classically Skewed: Three One-Acts
Deadline – April 19, 2009
Sweetness & Light Productions, a newly formed theater production company in New York City, is producing its first production July 9-19, 2009 at Theatre 54.
Currently on the slate are Chekhov’s The Bear and an original one-act, which is a modern, loose interpretation of Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex.
We are searching for another short one-act which runs no longer than 30 minutes to round out the production. Ideally, it would be some sort of take on a classic theme or idea, but twisted and funny.
Please submit a PDF of the script by email to melissa@sweetnessandlightproductions.com along with your contact information. Questions may be directed to the same address.
No fee or royalty will be paid in association with the chosen script but production costs will be covered by the company, including theatre rental and marketing.

| Hi. I just tried to e-mail a submission to the e-mail address listed above, at Sweetness & Light Productions. But it was just bounced back to me, saying "Host not Found." Anyone else have any success?

Hello. I discovered that you need to add the "t" to the word "productions" in the email address. Otherwise the message and attachment will bounce back.

Hee, hee. It's not dinner theater. I just aim for aspects of my life to be full of sweetness and light, so I thought it would be a good name; even if I'll produce shows that might be full of murder and incest (ie my Oedipus bastardization).
I'm not sure why the link to my email address is incorrect when it reads correctly in the post; but that is where the problem was.

I don't have the website up yet, which is why there's nothing there. It's on the list.
I had produced a good amount of theater regionally in Florida, but this will be my first production in Manhattan. The show will be at Shetler Studios. I'll be working with a number of friends and contacts I have with the theater community here in the City.
