Back in April I posted news of a rehearsed reading of my play Mad Tigers & Bears in the London fringe.
Thanks to the whole team, it couldn't have gone better. Work shopping / rehearsing resulted in the inevitable changes, including the new title I Am Not An I.
In addition to the theatre where we performed now being interested in having us back for a full run, the reading also netted us a 3 week run at a lesser known venue and a 2 week run at a far more fashionable, prestigious London fringe theatre.
But circumstances force a cast change, so why not try and get a "name"? Well, one reason is that agents for the great and the good consistently reply with words to the effect "one is afraid not". So how do I get the script under the nose of "one" who is not above paid fringe work?
Any suggestions that put me on the scent of a more fruitful approach will not be sniffed at.

How about changing your name to A. Fraid Knott?
Sorry, couldn't resist. I just can't help thinking believe in your play, and just get a great actor - regardless of their fame.

Thanks Paddy.
Having seen my play up on its feet, my confidence in the work went through the roof! And after the review we got (if anyone's interested, this can be found on the preview/review page of our website http://www.madtigersandbears.webeden,co.uk) that same confidence shot up and over Big Ben!
With or without a "name", we're onwards and upwards! And to all those trying to get their work on, keep believing!
A. Fraid Knott.
