Me and a Guitarist colleague of mine are currently working on a project and need a Lyricist Playwright. We're looking to write a harder edged Opera. Modern rock Music but in an operatic setting drawing influence from all sorts of bands from Muse to Radiohead to Bon Jovi. Kind of Like a modern JC Superstar.
I'm a 30 Musician who went to one of the top colleges in London and has always wanted to write a big project. I've written a musical which was staged at the Edinburgh Festival and have written songs for 2 comedy plays, one of which is at the Festival this year and then touring.
This project is a labour of love and we just want to see what we can come up with and then see if we can get it put on.
We have the story and outline and have been trying to write the lyrics but this has never really been our strong point. So far we have a 2 numbers which we think have potential. However the plot is not set in stone yet and if you join it'll be very much a joint project
We're looking for someone who has some experience of conveying a story on the stage, experience of putting a script together. Some experience in writing lyrics would be nice but not essential. We plan on the project being a mixture of stuff pre-written by us which will need lyrics for and stuff written by yourself so flexability is advantageous. This is open to anyone Pro or Amateur so if you fancy a go please get in touch and I'll gladly send to a synopsis.
I'm a professional playwright and lyricist based in London but shortly(October) re-locating to LA. I have recently written the lyrics to the children's show"Don't let the pigeon stay up late" which tours here this autumn and will tour America 2009. I can't attach my CV through this site but if you email me - goupcity@yahoo.co.uk I'll get one to you, I'm also google-able. I'd like to hit the ground running when I arrive so a project I can do some work on here before I go would be perfect
