Good morning! I'm a playwright seeking a lyricist for my book, which I would like to turn into a musical. Currently, I used songs from Pat Benatar's repertoire--her lyrics have touched my soul since I was 9 years old.
I have someone who wants to produce my musical but I am having a very difficult time securing the performance rights to her songs. The producer suggested that I get together with a lyricist and create my own songs in her hard rock style. The book is complete, now I just need new songs. ANyone interested? I live in WIlliamsburg, Brooklyn but will travel to any borough to collaborate.
Pat Benetar has a musical coming to Broadway this year. http://www.avclub.com/article/pat-benatars-life-being-made-broadway-musical-240869
I don't know if she has written all new music, or it is a juke box musical but it is on its way to Broadway. Also remember it may be very difficult to get permission to use her music. You could write an entire project and if you get permission last, no matter how good it is, it could stay on the shelf if you don't get permission and want to use her music/lyrics. Hate to be a buzz kill.

I'm not sure if you read my entire post but I want to find someone to write new songs for my musical---in her style. I have no intention of using her music, that's why I posted in this forum. The book is about me, not her life. Thanks.
