I don't totally agree with his advice, but I do understand it in many cases:

"If it sounds like writing: rewrite."

That is like saying, "If it sounds like music: rewrite."

If he is saying, "Always question one's own work," I can agree with that. It does not sound as "catchy" but it is just as valuable.

Plus, he had a very good editor!
