Hi Paddy,
Thanks for asking.
The evening went very well. It's always a crap shoot being on the bill with other plays, but this one turned out to be an evening of good work by all. I didn't get to see all the other plays, because I was performing in one of them, but the one I saw was inventive and very funny. My friends who attended said they thought all of them were great.
I was really pleased with my cast--Cristina Fernansez and Steph Van Vlack. With just one rehearsal, they managed to get to the essence of the short play. Both women had excellent comic timing and an instant onstage rapport. I was very lucky to have Lisa Barnes direct me in Carolyn Gage's play about Calamity Jane. I had done the role some years ago, but I think that Lisa helped me do it with more depth.
Finally, the people who produced the event (Sue Yocum of Playwrights for Pets and Judd Silverman who supervised the tech stuff and the sound and light operators) are some of the nicest people I have worked with. Everything went smoothly.
FYI. They are looking for material for their next event, with priority to playwrights who have not previously participated.

Sounds wonderful!
I do know about the crapshoot business. You just never know...and it's always better to be in good company.
I find readings quite exciting. Sometimes, the less rehearsed a piece is, the more real it feels somehow.
Glad it went well.
What do they specificually look for?

You can check their website.

Their next event will have the theme "Monsters," which they don't specifically define.

Barbara, thanks for this information.
I just sent two short plays I hope will work for them.
As the mother of Molly, Cleo and Oliver, I have a strong interest in the welfare of pets.
