This is not a poem, it's a lyric from my new musical.  It's a torch ballad, evoking the style of the Gershwins.
LOVE’S A FICKLE
PLAYMATE,
LOVE’S A FAIR-WEATHER
FRIEND
THOUGH YOU WISH
THAT IT WOULD STAY LATE
LOVE ALWAYS LEAVES EARLY
IN THE END …
SO WHY PRETEND
YOU DIDN’T SEE IT
COMING ALL ALONG?
ONE DAY,
LOVE THAT WAS SO RIGHT
CAN GO SO WRONG …

ONE DAY,
LOVE CAN WAKE
YOUR HEART
AND TEACH IT HOW
TO FLY

ONE DAY,
LOVE CAN TAKE
YOUR HEART
AND GIVE IT TO
A GUY

GLADLY,
YOU’LL PURSUE
YOUR HEART
WHEREVER IT MAY GO
SADLY,
YOU NEVER KNEW
YOUR HEART
COULD DECEIVE YOU SO
OH …

           ONE DAY,
LOVE CAN BREAK
YOUR HEART
AND TEACH IT HOW
TO CRY
         YOU SHOULD GIVE YOURSELF
ONE DAY TO CRY
AND THEN …
YOU SHOULD TEACH
YOUR HEART
TO TRY
AGAIN

I love song lyrics. Nice play on "one day" instead of "some day." Good luck w/this. Dinner theater? Inter-action type play?

Thank you, Timmy.  "Some" day might imply that the singer hadn't experienced these thing yet.  I wanted to indicated that this was something she (Dulcie Sullivan) was going through at the time.
Yes, it is an interactive mystery with 8 different endings, the audience decides "whodunit".  It could work as dinner theater as well.
