CHRISTOPHER STREET BLUE

night fog rolls
along city sidewalks
music pouring out
downtown bars
bright neon
chatter and smoke
the savage scent
of desperation and beer
fading into shadows
into corners
gin high
dim lights
Sarah Vaughan
praying to god
for somebody
someone to love

Beautiful words, Edd.

"...the savage scent
of desperation..." What a great image.

I am there.

edd,

I can see, smell, hear it all, and also feel the street under my feet. And the fog makes it eerie and sensual and mysterious like a seductive smoke brewing from a witch's kettle.

Sooooo vivid physically...and then wallops us with a vividness of a universal psychic, harried, soulful desperation.

Quite, quite moving.

And brillliant.

best,

IMR
