A real education may be nothing
more than a red sunrise, a half
empty jar of dry roasted peanuts,
a used can of condensed noodle soup

a red sunrise is nothing more than
a moon which cannot earn its nightly
keep, a celestial embarrassment,
leftover crimson lipstick on a morning

a half empty jar of dry roasted
peanuts is nothing more a half
filled again lonely night, an open
book face down next to a single
double bed, dog eared and tired

a used can of condensed noodle soup
is nothing more than Shakespeare,
now long dead and gone, dressed
in smaller, tighter forest green tights,
nimbler, quicker but easily murdered
by today’s public education

an interesting look at single life
not sure how the tights fit the soup
but I found myself thinking

cheers Robyn
