I am completely in the dark about something and am looking for someone to shed

some light for me.

Edd just posted some wonderful news that "Tough Cookies"

would be published and that a company would be "handling

{it} in all markets throughout the world". Edd "would receive

80% of all revenues collected... from amateur productions

and 90% from all other sources." He would also get "a book

royalty of 10% on all retail sales of the paper-covered acting".

They appear to be willing to send him an advance against those

royalties of $500.00

That sounds like a good deal (I guess, not knowing). So here is

what I am wondering: what would a deal like that ultimately bring in

(cash-wise)?  I would imagine it would depend on how well "Tough Cookies"

does and all, but I just don't have even a ballpark idea of what pessimistic,

realistic, and optimistic estimates would be. Not that the answer matters in the

end (we don't write for or because of money), but I am merely curious to

know, and I think it would be good for those of us who have not been as

fortunate as Edd to have an idea about such things.

Anyone willing to help?

JB,

As you said, it all depends on how well it does, how many productions it gets, whether they're community productions or professional productions.  The bottom line is that it could all mean nothing and the $500 advance might never be met.  That is a real possibility.

At my age, my real and most pressing concern is that it now has a home and will survive me~as I pray will be the fate of all my work.  I'm blessed to be getting $500 for a privilege I would gladly pay for.

Edd,

Well, I hope they have to order new cheques because they've ran out

where they've had to issue you so money. I mean: many.
