Hi, so a friend recommended a monologue for me to learn but couldn't remember the title of the play it was. He said it was very short, maybe 30 pages. The man giving the monologue is holding an owl and describing how miserable his life is without the woman in the play, after he fell while trying to climb up a roof and got a large nail stuck in his foot. That's about all the info I have, any help would be awesome. Thank you!

Hope you can find it becuase it sounds like a HOOT (owl) Pun intended!

A bit of advice though,

Finding the right monologues as a YOUNG actor is the most important choice a young actor can make. It is very time consuming. In fact, very, very time consuming. You should have 5 pieces you have worked on TO PERFECTION. IF YOU SING, YOU SHOULD HAVE 10 Songs of different styles.

They are your "Trademark" so to speak.

If you can take the people audtioning "off guard"…"fool them" those are the best pieces.

Read a LOT of plays. Continue to ask around, and find the right ones FOR YOU - as you will need several or more. FIVE IS GOOD.TEN IS BETTER. But three that are billiant is better than 10 that are mediocre.

Wish I could help you more. But it is long arduous WORK and TIME. Nothing done in a week, but done in months of work.

Best,

IMR
