I'm new. Lighting and sound play a particularly important role in the children's play I'm trying to write. I've searched the Internet to find out where they should be placed in a play script. For the time-being I've included them under the title STAGE DIRECTIONS. (The actor directions I've included in brackets with the actor's dialogue. Where is the proper place for lighting and sound directions in a play script? Thanks for any help on this.
I would suggest the playwriting book by one of our members, Wrighter, whose post is currently just above yours.
I've read it twice and loved it. I have underlined and marked up the book in the margins, as I do with any book. Chock full of great stuff. I have read lots and lots of books over the years about playwriting. His is as he describes in his post.
It is Top Notch. Contemporary and does not come from a University professor but from an actual experienced playwright.
