I've often heard it say, that playwrights and poets are very close in terms of writing style.
I don't think I can ever quite explain why when I read a line I've written aloud, there are two too many beats, but there is a beautiful and necessary rhythm to playwriting.
Cool idea. I just posted a poem in "Critique my poem" which I've often thought was quite short-storyish. Now Im thinking maybe its a play........
Its a fine line that divides a play with poetic language from something too flowery and contrived. To be able to write a verse play or a poetic play and for the audience to almost not notice is a great skill if you can pull it off.
