I am finding this place very inspirational, I hope you find it the same. How long did you LurK around the TPTT forum? We actually had a lot of fun there, for quite a long time.
Anyway, please feel welcome to 'chat' on this thread or i will catch you on one of the others.
I got a little brave earlier and thought I would post a poem on the poetry bit. I wrote it years ago, so any slating it gets I can blame on my youth! However, technophobe that I am, I can't work out how to post on that part of the forum? Also it contains some graphic swearing. Is that allowed on here?
Thanks Playfull. You have no idea how idiotic I am about this computer stuff! Re: swearing I may wait for Ed to give his seal of approval (or not!) if you aren't sure, before posting. Wouldn't want to offend or get struck off! Sorry for being such a scandalous woman!
I have sent you a private message (don't worry, nothing personal) - you will find this by clicking on the link in the email notification you will receive, or by clicking on '1 new message' which you will find near the top left of the forum, next to where it says 'Logged in as Nikip.
A very small spider has descended from nowhere and is dangling in front of me. I have this sudden urge to grab it and twirl it around my head three times but the last time I did that the spider disappeared and my head itched for days and I felt horribly quilty.
Its that time again to pick small boy up from Soccer School and put the washing machine on full cycle.
Talking of art I went to see ART the other day at our local Arts Centre in Jersey performed by local amateur/professional actors and directed by the stage manager. It wasn't really amdram since the actors were paid if the perfromances made a profit. For local talent it was actually rather good. But then again the play is so good that it would take a lot for someone to ruin it. I would have loved to have seen it in French and wonder how much has been lost or added by translation assuming it was originally written in French?
A local film company is also making a feature film on the island written by a local reporter and featuring a very famous now veteran leading actress (name to be disclosed when its 100% in the bag). I managed to blag a small speaking role and have to shout at small children that are climbing up a tree. I will be very good at shouting at small children climbing up a tree and will not have to research this role for motivation at all. The script is very simple and has a feel good factor about it. Will explain more as/when/if it happens. Are films scripts allowed on a play writing forum?
Well, things are hoppin' your way! I hope the movie goes well. In 1985 I showed up in downtown Chicago with about 15,000 other people to be extras - a crowd watching a parade in a movie that was shooting called Ferris Beuller's Day Off. I have never found myself in the crowd scene, but I had a blast.
The amazing thing about the play Art is that it is one of the only comedies that was a bona fide hit in London, Paris and New York. Usually senses of humour are quite regional but somehow Reza did it.
I saw a great cast do it which included Alan Alda. That guy can act for stage!
I haven't written a comedy sketch since college but I would be up for a thread.
Nikip has posted a poem in the 'critique my poem' section which is worth looking at, and Edd has posted a response that you might find interesting! He mentions a play of his which features a self harming woman with Bipolar disorder! Sounds a bit like 'On the Third Day' meets 'All of the Moon'..............
It's ck33 from TPTT although the process of moving over has aged me and I'm now ck34.
Thank you Playfull for your link and invite to this site. This is a wonderful, friendly place full of excellent advice from other writers - exactly what I was orginially looking for.
When I get a chance I will definitely read through everything that's been posted but at the moment work has stepped up a bit so I may not be a frequent poster.
thanks again,
ck33 (I would insert a smiley face but I haven't been able to find one yet)
Thanks so much for taking so much interest in my play - and what it's about etc etc. It's so kind of you to feel it's up to so much discussion. Makes all the hard work worthwhile. Thanks!!!!

Well, it was your ideas that got us going.
Did you go to see the well-reviewed Nicolas Nickleby that is playing up your way?
Kate, I'm also going to post an answer to your questions in your thread.
You know what its like. You think you've beaten your adiction, you went cold turkey, the shakes have subsided, you no longer rush to the computer every five minutes to see if someone has answered your post. You think you are in the clear. Life is peacful.
Then suddenly one of your old adict buddies from the past turns up waving a new supply under your nose and you're back on the hard stuff....
In other words - hi to all the old tptt gang, thanks for the invite playful. I'm off for a wee nosey around, get my bearings and I might even post a poem just to test the water.
Ahhhh the old addiction eh? Nice to see you here. You will find it is a nice friendly bunch. Will chat when you have got your feet under the table. When you are ready introduce yourself on the intro thread.
