I am an aspiring musical writer. I have come up with many ideas and I have written a song but I feel that I often derive too much from other songs/styles. I am not the best at coming up with music or melodies. I am a singer and my piano skills are minimal. However, I would like to work on a project, not necessarily a full-length project. Just songs or a short work or something of the like. I want to adapt a novel or maybe just a short story of some sort. I am pretty good at writing lyrics and I'm working on my book-writing. If there is anyone interested. (However, a longer project might be cool).

Some ideas/influences:

Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut

The Kooks, Placebo, Counting Crows, Tal Bachman, 90's Rock/Pop, The Cure-influenced kind of stuff. I love music.

Tudor era gone punk/gothic/industrial or neon/rave-like/techno-ish (Speaking and singing in some older english. I just got some costume ideas for both and I love tha ttime period and I think that something like that would be fun.

Adapting the novel, The Lovely Bones

If anyone is interested, let me know. Thank you so much! : D

Hi,

We're looking for a lyricist/collaborator for our project which is posted here. We have a rough idea of the story but are still open to ideas. We want to write a rock musical/opera on a band but need help with the lyrics.

I'm sorry I don't have a demo with me to attach but if you're interested drop me a line and I'll give you more info.

Cheers

I'm a bookwriter/lyricist always on the prowl for a savvy composer. I would like to learn more about your project. I just happened upon your post in a search for composers, so I don't yet know how to navigate this site to find what you've posted. Please drop me a line at wonkamagic@earthlink.net, or check out my brand new group on Yahoo, called Musical_Theatre_Collaborators
