Came accross this via Twitter and thought it was interesting.

"West London’s Bush Theatre has this week launched a pioneering social networking website which allows playwrights to post their work online for producers and directors to read and commission."

Any feedback - pro/con - for this concept?

I have recently stumbled upon this site myself and I find it to be an interesting concept and I, too, would like to know more, especially from those who are a part of this project.

I've read their FAQ page; it seems that it costs money for one to read another's work. While its not a huge amount (1-2 pounds), that may turn some off. You can read up on it all here: http://www.bushgreen.org/web/guest/faq#The_Bush_Theatre

I'll try to see if can't get some sort of review/external information/commentary on the site; just to check its credibility and what not.

Update: it's seems that the commerce aspect has been removed from the website in order to promote more downloads and feedback on people's plays. It's now totally free to download plays, however I'm still not sure if I'd want to take part. Could there be issues of plagiarism or copyright infringement or are the dangers the same as anywhere else?

The Bush project is legitimate. Alomg with posting your work on their secure site, the Theatre also gives you the option to submit to The Bush for production consideration, as with most theatres it takes a while for them to get back to you, but they do. My experience with them was great and I would recommend them to anyone. http://www.spivsplays.com
