Call for Submissions

Deadline: February 14, 2010

Call for Submissions to the 9th Annual 10 By 10 in the Triangle, an international festival of new, 10-minute plays.  10 Plays! 10 Actors! 10 Minutes! 10 Bucks!  A panel of judges will select 10 plays to showcase in The ArtsCenter's Earl and Rhoda Wynn Theatre (Mainstage Theatre) July 8-25, 2010.

The Submissions:  Please email new, 10-minute plays with minimal set requirements to theatre@artscenterlive.org.  We do not accept monologues but we do accept musical submissions with little or no accompaniment.  Playwrights may submit up to 2 plays in standard format (Courier or 12 pt font) in Word or PDF

Please send 2 separate emails for each play.

Email 1.  The subject line is the name of the play followed by "contact info."   The body of the email contains only the title of the play and playwright contact information.

Email 2. The subject line and name of attached file for the second email is the title of the script.  For example, the subject line of this email is "Happy Days" and the attached file is "Happy Days."  This file contains cast, set requirements, and script.  No contact information, please.   If you are submitting two scripts, please send four separate emails.  Please do not zip the files.

The Deadline: Submissions must be received by February 14, 2010.

We will notify finalists by email and will post those titles on our website.  We are sorry we cannot respond to each individual playwright.  We will announce the 10 productions by May 22.

The Award:  Playwrights receive an award of $100.  Playwrights who attend our playwright gala on July 10 will also receive an additional $100 travel stipend.

The Space:  Our mainstage theatre is a 300-seat house with basic lighting and sound capabilities.

The Producer: ArtsCenter Stage will provide directors, actors, designers, and technical crew for the festival.  The directors will contact the playwrights at the beginning of the rehearsal process.  For more information about The ArtsCenter, please visit our website: http://http://www.artscenterlive.org

The Dates:  July 8-25, Thursdays-Sundays, Playwright Gala July 10

The Production:  The ten plays will be presented together as an evening of theatre.  All ten shows run each night and are performed by an ensemble of five men and five women.  Playwrights are invited to a post-show discussion/reception and an overnight stay  on Saturday, July 10.

If you have questions, please contact theatre@artscenterlive.org
