If I am to die early, I would like

music to murder me;

something extravagant,

like Chopin

Maybe I could write the lyrics;

alas, what works

in song rarely works

in real life

Besides, I wouldn’t want people

at my funeral  merely lip syncing ,

or worse, whistling

No, I’d rather die with that one grand

tune in my head;

something with violins—

like stringed crickets, back legs

scratching each other

like sharp kindling sticks

the preacher,

my own personal conductor;

God in the balcony, making sure

no one leaves early

Now, the last line of this I really like! Making sure no one leaves early. That's clever.
