Many, many moons ago I posted a brand-new short play, "The Stronger Bond," on this forum. I recently learned that this play will be presented by Love Creek Productions at the Producers Club, Sonnet Theater, in NYC in September. Curious, I went back to my original post to see what kind of critiques the play had received and if I'd listened to any of them!
Forum stalwarts in media res, Edd, and Swann gave not only thoughtful critiques that I actually incorporated, in my own way, into the play, but also the kind of encouragement and support that I, as a new playwright, very much needed at the time. At any time, really.
I'm left with two thoughts.
One, I need to read more plays on the forum to provide the kind of help that so often has been given to me.
Two, "one and done" ain't ever gonna cut it. I'm a true believer of the "write, rewrite and then rewrite some more" school.
Thanks, everyone. I'm having a great little ride right now, and know it wouldn't be possible without this forum.
Funny, kris, I was just going to ask you the other day what ever happened to the little play that takes place in McDonald's? But, I just never got around to it. I really loved it. So, maybe it is ESP or something.
So happy this happened for the play. You are kind of on a spurt, aren't you?
in media res, the fact that you thought of "Boris" after all this time means as much as, if not more than, its being selected! I'm enjoying this spurt as fully as I can before it turns into dearth without even a stop at trickle along the way.
Potabasil, you make me laugh! I won't even mention San Diego (tee hee).
Thanks, timmy. However, with your wonderful recent news, you are the one who creates encouragement! To "mepoetry" you now must add "meplaywriting" as a specialty of the house.
(and I don't want to stomp all over your good news with this post, so I'll go back in over there and "pretend edit" my last post. Again, that is such fabulous news. I hope you realize just how great that is.
