|Hello everyone, just another "hello" post from a new member!
I'm 21 years old and am currently in my last year of training at a London Drama school. I'm originally from East Scotland and have always been interested in writing. I've tried a few novels, which didn't work out but then I found that I enjoyed writing plays much more. I've written a few shorts but am now trying to make the leap from short plays into full length.
Two years ago, around Halloween, I co-wrote and directed a site-specific, horror/mystery play based on a true story that occurred in the building in which we performed. The audience were put into a fully interactive world and met real historical characters who featured in the true events. They were called upon the help the characters, could question them and at points had to hide from them. In short, the audience could directly influence the night’s events.
It was really well received and I am now looking to expand upon the ideas, iron out the problems we encountered last year and make it a bigger and better experience for our audience. I'm really passionate about creating the experience for them, as most horror/mystery productions seem to either be really scary, with no plot, or have a good story, but aren’t very scary. I want to marry both and create a really strong piece.
My drama school have agreed to give me funding to produce an all new play next year. I'm in the process of constructing it and I’m encountering a few problems. I’ve browsed the forum in the past and thought it was about time I got stuck in!
Hopefully I'll get some answers to the sticking points and meet some new people on the way :)
