My name is Michael Kras. I'm an 18 year old aspiring playwright from Hamilton, Ontario. I've written a few full-length pieces, one-acts, and ten minute plays as well. My creative influences are Tracy Letts and David Mamet, and my first public production of Wasp's Nest was an homage to Mamet's work.
A bit about myself and my work. My first play was Shut Down, which I wrote and directed to compete in the Sears Ontario Drama Festival in early 2011. It didn't win the competition, but it won me an Award of Excellence for Best Writing and Direction. Since then, I've directed 5 productions of my original shows, including one I'm preparing for this year's Sears Festival as well as my first community theatre shows, a double bill of the revival of Shut Down and the premiere production of Wasp's Nest.
A few days ago, my short play The Last Drop was one of 8 plays selected to be performed at the HamilTEN Short Play Festival this April along with the work of other Ontario playwrights.
