"When you write, do you ever have a specific audience in mind?"

This question was posed to me earlier today, and I responded with a sort of "no", in that I write whatever pleases me, even if I do often consider my audience as being on the slightly intellectual side (sometimes).

What do you think, oh my great great companions of the theatre? Do you ever write with an audience in mind? Just checking. Just curious.

Mr. Turco,

My response would be the same as yours. That said, my goal is to entertain in one way or the other, so I try to write the best I know while being true to myself. Being true to myself seems most important to me. A school chum said something to me that has stuck with me over 40 decades when I asked her the exact same question as you, "Raise your flag and see who salutes it."

Write on, my friend.
