Poetic People

Poetic people, such as you and me,

Have this flaw, I glimpse but can’t clearly see.

Consumed by the urge to express through word,

When it’s thought through and finally written,

There is an aching desire to be heard,

That’s greater than any need to listen.

a short response to your question:

instructions

i want to not want
others' belongings:

the neighbor’s desk
the day after Labor Day,
his red Corvette,
its removable top,
its gearshifts driving
his wife to restaurants,
white tablecloths, white wine,
two glasses, candlelight

a piano tune played
with only black keys

flat wound guitar strings,
taut fingers, the plucking,
a song to sing, someone
with whom to sing

a Napoleonic island,
my one good hand

nailed to a pen,
volumes of white paper,
an ocean, two ears to hear
only those sounds
which interest me

and a soft voice to say

"talk to me, baby"

Hi Oz,

So that's a yes vote then?

Your reply is so clever on so many levels and an excellent poem to boot.
