Anyone here gonna be in Chicago for the Dramatists Guild Conference? I'm going to be there. On the Friday 8/23 I'll be presenting a workshop/talk at 3 PM on Dream Logic and the Theatrical Mechanism. If you're there, I hope you'll check it out. Also, I'm looking forward to meeting some folks in person.
Yeah, kind of a surprise. Disappointed I can't make it, unless something major changes.
If you can, make sure you take the time for the Chicago Water Taxi. It runs about every 15 minutes between Michigan Avenue at The Wrigley Building to Ogilvie Center at Madison and then just get off and back on and return to Michigan Avenue. A GREAT brief heaven of a ride. Just enough to get a brief, but fulfilling and lovely, relaxed view of the Chicago from the water.
We were just talking about the water taxi tonight at dinner. It's on our list. We're going out a couple of days early to take in some sites. Also, there is an amazing and rare exhibit of Japanese art at one of the Chicago Art Institute - Katsushika Hokusai’s series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji
A friend of mine on Facebook told me you had been posting about the Dream Logic workshop. That is so cool!
I'll post more later when I am not as pressed for time - but thinks for your kind words, and I love that it has been inspiring for you.
I prepared a short booklet for the workshop, to provide the gist and to supply some of the quotes from the science papers and recent dream studies. Much of it was borrowed from a paper I had written for a neuroscience and theater class at Brown. The introductory portion was written by Martin Kettling. I have the information as a pdf. If anyone would like to read it, you can PM me with your email address and I can send it to you.
