|I am in the process of writing a musical. I have been recording all the piano and vocal parts myself in my studio, however, I do not have the ability to arrange and score everything. If I am already paying someone to arrange and score my music (just piano and vocals---nothing crazy), then should they still get a percentage of the song? Or would that depend on how different they make it, or enhance it? Has anyone else been in this type of situation? I would love to just pay up front and be done with it. I don't want anyone knocking down my door if my musical actually starts to make money especially if I already paid them upfront. Should I make sure they've signed some sort of contract?
