Just writing to let you all know that I'm once again published on the parent site, Stageplays.com. I know it's maybe not so big a feat, maybe it's not worth mentioning, but it's a step for me at a point in my life when I haven't been writing much.
It's titled The Vacuous Case of Mister Um. Some of you might remember it from the critique forum a couple years ago. Hoping this recent publication will catch the eyes of theatre directors looking to produce zany and absurd works.
I read Turco's entire play while he was working on it on this site a couple/few years ago.
I loved it.
It has a very good and unique humor, but through its humor it leaves one with a very unsettling, frightening and futile feeling that lingers long afterward. I still think about it.
It is a story of a man who is inexorably caught in the unrelenting quicksand of the society surrounding him as he is sucked into a "trial" that gets creepier and creepier and yet he does not even know why he is on trial. Whew!
The more we follow Mr. Um into this dark pit, the scarier it gets because Mr. Um could be any one of us.
