I'm sure you've no doubt heard of the Words Players fiasco and their debauchery. Their blatant disregard for the value of art is plainly sickening. In short, they believe that they can rewrite the plays they accept to their contest as they see fit, without authorial permission. This is against everything we stand for.
The DG just posted their formal reply to the growing controversy. They pretty much hit the nail on the head with it. The link is below.
Someone has to stand up for the rights of playwrights, young and old. Especially, for the new ones who would send their work anywhere in the hopes of getting a production. The eager green ones, who don't know any better.
With all the outcries against this theatre, it makes me proud to be part of the international community of playwrights as I am.
