i was wondering, during a story do we need a protagonist? i saw the Hateful 8 and didn't see one there. so in my eyes, we don't need one. but that was a movie not a play.
what do you think?

Yes.


However, there are very, very, verrrrry rare - miraculously inspired - exceptions.

It could be a "group" or "coordinted combination" of multiple protaganitsts.

Someone or some entity must bring us into the story.

Otherwise...we...as an audience...just don't care.
