I'm quite good at coming up with a good story and a complete synopsis of what happens, but turning it into a real script is quite difficult for me. I never seem to be able to write the scenes between the big plot points. Any advice?

DJ, read scripts like a mad man. Dozens and dozens. You'll then get a feeling for the rhythm, the arcs, the developing of characters between the lines, and so much more. A play is like a poem and should be respected. READ READ READ scripts until that day you get it, and you'll know when that day comes. DJ, I know of no better way to write a script worth a performance. I wish you the best. Write a few pages and let us have a look. Again, only the best. And the passion and the burning in your gut will come. ~edd

Write it. Get friends to take the roles, sit around a table and read it aloud. Take note where there may be problems and EDIT, EDIT< EDIT. Nothing is ever written perfectly, it is merely re-written well.

Sometimes I have just started out writing the script and it just flowed. Other times I've had to write like a summary story line to help me over the spots where it seemed to slow a dialogue. LIke an outline of sorts worked for me.

I believe that if it's a good script then you should not be able to see , in a sense where the next scene takes you. Unpredictable makes for a better story. And I have written songs too. And if it didn't quite fit I would erase and start over too. You can't be afraid of having to rewrite some portion and have dilligence in your work.
