Hi All --

I'm the playwright of The Gringo Who Stole Christmas, a comedic Latino twist on A Christmas Carol. It's had several successful readings, the latest at Players Theatre on MacDougal St. in The Village, and I'd love to start a discussion with a director, who might share my vision, about staging a production. (I am the middle of forming a NFP corporate entity for the production effort).

At its core, my adaptation is about self-discovery and acceptance of one's cultural identity—elevating Gringo beyond simply another feel-good Christmas story to a contemporary every-man allegory that conveys the message that our accent—a touchy symbol of our cultural identity —should be celebrated as an expression of ourselves, not as a black mark against America.

I'd be happy to forward the script and further discuss.

Many Thanks,
Dave Kalish
