Here is the stone.
You know the one.
The one people mean
When they tell you,
It's written in stone;
Or more likely, It's
Not written in stone.

From the distance of a few feet
Everything is crystal clear.
I understand exactly
What the writer meant
(though even from this vantage point
I'm less certain of intent).

Moving away my eyesight falters and
what I know now is what I should have known
from the beginning:

that I needed to read between the lines.
For these are the words of the one who
Hurled the mallet at the chisel,
Inviting me to an interpretation.

Hmmmm...hmmm....I don't get it.

(That's a joke!)

You have written a most concise poem about patience and discovery, which can lead to and allow the openness of the heart, the mind and the soul.

Eureka!!!

Thank you.

Best,

IMR
