September 11, 2001.

Let's remember those who died.

I knew several NYFD firefighters who died or were injured the crushing collpase of the World Trade Center. Many others served on that day. The closest was a Silver Star Marine. It is said, "A Silver Star for a Marine is like a Medal of Honor for the other branches of the Armed Forces." And much harder to get. He was much-decorated with the NYFD as well.

Humbly...he credited me me for saving his life, as I directed him on the path of quiting drinking. I drink...but he had...a problem. He then got into Yoga. One of the nicest, toughist, most soft-spoken and decent men I have ever known. And Hollywood Handsome.

One night, I saw him stare down 5 scum-thugs on 8th Avenue in Times Square because they made catcalls to his Lady Friend. He calmly lined them up against a wall and made each of them politely apologize to her. (Otherwise, they JUST KNEW, he would have ripped all them apart.) An amazing thing to watch.

R.I.P. my friend.

And Blessings on their families.

Well...RE: my poem below:

Art predicts life...

Three days ago, a dear friend in his early 40's literally dropped dead from a massive heart attack. Leaves a wonderful wife, and four lovely children. And lots of saddened friends.

So, yet another reminder to heed the great quote from one of my favorite movie's, "BREAKER MORANT."

"Live every day as if it were going to be your last, for someday you're
bound to be right."

Best,

IMR

THE PEOPLE WE LOVE

Why can’t we keep them forever?

The people we love.

The people we know.

The people we share and the people who care?

Why do they – we – have to pass into…

The unknown?

Is it Darkness?

Or is it Light?

Or is it Nothingness?

Whichever it is

There is

An emptiness

An irreplaceable Loss

That will last

FOREVER.

FOREVER....

We are dealt a Deck

And the Cards are Stacked

Unfair.

Unfair.
