|NEW WEBSITE FACILITATES SHARING OF CRITICAL FEEDBACK AMONG PLAYWRIGHTS
Free service Read My Play(TM) connects writers and readers to inform future drafts of works-in-progress
SHELBURNE, VT--Random Precision Media LLC of Shelburne, Vt., has launched Read My Play, a new website to facilitate the sharing of critical feedback among playwrights to help inform future drafts of works-in-progress.
Playwrights of all skill levels can create free accounts at readmyplay.com and get started giving and receiving feedback on scripts immediately.
The site is free to use and operates using a credit system: Users earn credits by reading and submitting feedback on other users' scripts. Then they redeem those credits by placing their own play scripts into the reading queue to receive feedback on their own works. It's a mutually beneficial, self-sustaining system with the goal of creating better theater.
"Good writing involves a lot of rewriting, especially when it comes to stage plays," according to site developer Craig Bailey. "Playwrights have always swapped scripts for the purpose of offering feedback to each other. Read My Play brings this concept into the 21st century by greatly automating the process and building what we hope will be a substantial wide-spread network of playwrights looking to help one another."
Bailey is sole proprietor of Random Precision Media. He's a web developer with a long-time interest in acting and writing for stage and screen. He wrote and published his first play while still in high school. Details on his latest one-act play, "Mitch Maclay Sings Just for You," are online at mitchmaclay.com.
