Hey all! I'm just so eager to meet you!

Been married barely 20 years. Have just 10 children. For unknown reasons I started writing this one play.... and then a sequel.

It's a parody of Charlottes Web. If Douglas Addams wrote Charlottes Web... it would go something like my plays.

The name is underwhelming. Pig in a Web, and its sequel, Pig in a Web 2.0. ... But it's got some giggles in them pages.

Here's the quick summary for both:

Pig in a Web: After the birth of a sassy, rebellious runt piglet, Heather, a spoiled pig farmer’s daughter, hatches a plan to use the piglet she names Willy, to get a bike for herself over summer vacation. Only problem is, she's just causing trouble all over the farm rather than taking responsibility for her 4 legged investment. As Daddy Farmer enlists the help of aunt Mel to raise him, little Willy’s life becomes the epicenter for the invasion plan of pork eating arachnids, causing the piglet to discover his unique place in the Web of Life.

Pig in a Web 2.0. In this hilarious parody sequel, Heather couldn't fatten Willy the pig for a bike when he was hers, but now she's fattening his owner, Scooter the dog, for mysterious and annoying reasons. Scooter may be a hero to Willy already, after saving him from being dinner for an invasion of hungry alien spiders, but no one seems to trust him to look after his pet pig. But while everyone is worrying about Heather and Willy, time is running out for Grannypig. Whatever is happening to her, only Mommy can relate.

Hello and welcome

Good luck for your first play though to me it sounds more like a short story or an animation

Maybe try the story first ...

Sorry. Looked like you were getting loads of responses - but you were talking to yourself - all writers do.

Welcome. This is a great place for connections, but don't be disappointed by lack of response...it used to be very active, lively and vocal - now, mostly people come to see the OPPS. Sad. It could be so much more.

Just a note to anyone reading this...I've had several plays produced because of people I ENGAGED with here.

So, Welcome. I hope your words are dark chocolate.

Paddy

Thank you for responding, Paddy! My side of the pond, too! That's neat.

Yeah, I talk to and interrupt myself a lot.

And argue with myself.

Which brings me here, today.

I need to know... crap or gold!

Truthfully, it's always difficult to know. The play is the foundation of a house - so really, it could be anything. The producer handles the building plans, the director builds the frame - the actors the walls. Then the crew does the lighting, decorating, etc. Each night of the performance - the landscape changes - it's the audience that creates the landscape. All you can do as a playwright, is make sure the foundation is secure, and will support the house. The rest, is out of your hands.

So submit it - and find out.

Paddy

Ok, but... first I should let you see my written "trailer"

Just one extra minute verses really wasting your time.

Ellipses are meant to indicate skipped dialogue:

Willy
I have never been anywhere else but already I hate this stupid dump! Somehow, mommypig, I feel you must be wrong about everything!
....
Mommypig
Many of your siblings will be the dams and sires of future piglets. Prize winners like your mom and dad. You should aspire to be more like them.

......
Willy
Mistake? What mistake? You talking to me? I want an apology! Those losers pushed me to the smallest nipple!

.......
Willy (CONT’D)
Only baby cows can be happy in this world!
Willy rejects his bottle and grabs the sandwich, running from Mel. Mel chases.
Mel
So that's how it is! Time for a junk food detox, little piggy!

.....
Sheep 3
Feeling sure he would never breed, or make a ham, it wasn't clear where Willy belonged in the Web of Life. Willy had an important job to do. To figure out his purpose in the cosmos.

Am I supposed to publish it with Stageplay? Because that will cost me... and no problem, assuming my co-spender is willing with 10 kids.... procrastination is probably going to ensue.

Especially since he's trying to launch a band with one of our daughters. While managing another one who is a singer songwriter.

I think I will work on feeding my YouTube channel with my material. Thanks, all. Sorry I couldn't be more satisfying with my cooperation.

I've been encouraged to avoid publishing the plays online for now.

I don't know how I'm going to get feedback from you in the short term unless you are willing to privately view the script. I know I could email it. (ePub or PDF.) Just let me know if that interests you.

Hi, Edible Words.

Unfortunately, I'm not knowledgeable or experienced in children's plays (and what those theaters are looking for), so I'm unable to help you know whether or not what you've written is any good.

Yeah, I totally understand what you mean about threads having many views, but no responses. It's part of the reason why I left; just trying to have a discussion about the plays, the theater, etc. (I wasn't even showing or asking others to critique my work, at all) and having no responses was puzzling (especially when many other places, online, are more active).

Thank you for your response. I'm still trying to solve my puzzle. So far, I published a novel by the same name on Bookemon. Don't bother buying it, just read it. I'll publish a cheaper edition soon.

And I'm trying to get the play published, still.

I got the play put up. Honestly, it's not a kid's play. I tested my audience. But college-middle age can get the jokes.
