There are a lot of car companies, have no idea why, and porn sites, and prescription drug sites that sign up here as members, via bots. We spend a lot of time deleting them, but there are so many, we sometimes, might inadvertently delete a new member. Sorry about that. Just sign up again.
Also, why you're here, don't check out a member's url until you've checked their profile. These 'bad' members will have a link that leads somewhere you really don't want to go, including sites that download viruses. If you aren't sure, don't go there. The clue for these sites is a lot of the fields are filled in with junk, and they almost always fill in an ICQ #, which hardly anyone uses anymore.
Thanks, and sorry if we've accidentally bumped you.
Paddy
PS - It would be helpful if you chose a Username that had a "theatrical theme"
It's crazy the way these'other thans' playwrights or any theatre related people-'the advertisers' are creeping into all aspects of playwrighting life. I belong to 2 email sites that send out theatre info in my state, CT, and they find a way in there as well.
Thanks for trying to keep them out. I guess peggys isn't a clever name since it's really my own name!! Hhhmmm, now I'm off to find a new name for myself on here!
How do I change my name but keep who I am, or just start all over by re-registering?
Thain, not only do I understand your concerns, but I do appreciate too. But this the third time my username is bumped, inactivated, whatever. If I have taken the pain to sign up again all these times, it's because I have read some interesting posts and play extracts, and really felt that I would find great opportunities to learn here as a new playwright. But somehow, I just can't help but feeling unwelcome here...(no other offense but the need to register anew on a daily basis.) I will start looking for other forums/help sources now, hopefully I'll be able to come back here too. Marc-Andre (the thrice bumped username).
I've no idea why you're being bumped, but I can assure you it isn't personal, so before you "start looking for other forums/help sources now" you might want to read the following excerpt from a past post written in this section specifically concerning this matter.
". . . fill out the profile--let us know you are, in the least, interested in Theatre. You can still remain anonymous if that is your pleasure, but you MUST add some kind of theatrical interest to your profile. We cannot determine your intent with absolutely no information."
I hope this works for you, Mark, and that you enjoy a long association with The Playwrights' Forum. Being a privately funded and carefully monitored forum, you will find no other quite like it on the internet.
Thanks for your reply, Edd. I have just updated my profile. Let's hope it works, I was getting a bit frustrated...I must agree with you, I haven't seen the like to this forum on the web, this sure is the finest one I've seen for theatre. Mark
