CONGRATULATIONS

Where abouts on the cape?  It's about 1 1/2 hours from here.  How long is the run?

I have friends down there this summer want to tell them to check it out

Of course the traffic is desperate at this time of the year down to the cape or up to Maine

So Break a leg

thanks everyone!

it's a great production! it's gotten 2 rave reviews in the local papers! the director brought out lots of humor & although he made a few more cuts & added some lines to cover them, i'm fine with most of them - there's only one cut i'm not happy with. the performers are wonderful & the audience seemed to enjoy it when i saw it opening night - lots of laughs & applause. i'm going to see it a few more times & take some notes for the final version of the script.

it was really a dream come true to have this theater group do one of my scripts so...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Spiny.Don't know about the director cuts and adding for the loss.  I understand you have the last say regarding cuts and additions.  Did the director do the addition or was it you?  Now Spiny I'm no expert about this, maybe Edd would know

Besides that very happy for you

because the script hasn't been published yet, i was quite willing to work with the director on rewriting bits of it. he is very talented so i was more than willing to listen to his thoughts about what would work & what was weak. before auditions, we got together to go over the script & i did some rewriting. then, during auditions, he had some more thoughts so i did some more rewriting. i chose not to attend rehearsals b/c i wanted to be wowed by seeing the whole thing in its final form on opening night so i gave him permission to make any other small changes - primarily in regard to keeping the running time down - this group likes to keep its summer shows to 90 minutes including intermission. so he did cut out a few pages here & there & also added a bit at the end (which didn't include any rewriting of lines but was a sort of symbolic "explanation" of something).

so anyway, i agree with some of his changes but not with others - when i send the final version to playscripts, i'll definitely include the bits i liked but it's up to me what i put in that final version & what i don't.

i like to think that when i write a script, it's my play but when i let a company stage it, it's their production. of course, it's a bit different when the script isn't published yet. once it's published, i don't expect anyone to cut or change lines.

& if i told you what the play is & who is doing it, well, the cat would be out of the bag - my secret identity would be revealed!

Last line.True, but you know Spiny we would have made an effort to go see it, don't you?

Regarding the rest, I'm not nearly experienced enought to say anything about it so I won't, will leave all that up to the experienced Playwrights around here.

WAY TO GO, SPINY!

Also, to have a good relationship with the director like that.

sad to say but the run has ended & my show closed last thursday - : (

but it had a good run - 4 great reviews & no bad ones. could've had bigger houses but end-of-summer exhaustion had set in. i saw it 4 times & enjoyed it each time. it came out exactly as i'd hoped.

now comes the work of writing the final version for playscripts. *sigh* i'll be happy when it's published & done.

used the money to buy...my first ipod! i know, i know - i'm not exactly on the cutting edge of technology, but i catch up eventually!
