Mana:
That time when
we met for lunch
I was late
a stranger
to the city
where you lived

The heavens opened
as I left the hotel
on Lexington Ave

No taxi to be seen
as I walked
through the
unknown streets

No umbrella
I was too tall
I always told myself

Walking through the door
that day of the Mexican restaurant
drenched from head to toe
we greeted each other
you looking around
making sure no one
you knew would see
the sight of me

We were giddy after the liquid lunch
and there in the middle of the street
you went into full voice
singing Edith Piaf's
Non, je ne regrette rien
in the afternoon on a street
in New York

People stopping to listen
me standing there in front of you
this New York moment
