If you haven't seen "August: Osage County, yet, I would highly recommend it. I've seen 7 plays in NYC over the past 9 months, and that was far and away the best. I think "Hedda Gabler" might have been the worst. Terrible English adaptation, awful directing, and some of the acting was on par with an Elementary school Christmas Pageant; without any of the charm.

My own play will be running from March 26-April 19, so of course, I recommend it to everyone. (see announcements)

Come see it and say hello.

Barbara has been an invaluable, terrific, wise, informative and highly artistic voice/contributor to this Forum. I know she has attended other Forum members work in NYC. Sadly, correct me if I am wrong, Barbara, I remember you posting that no one has attended one of yours.

I have suggested to several NY area people in PM's in the last couple of years to go meet you at your shows, as you would be most welcoming for anyone to introduce themselves. Your experience in NYC and theatre would be invaluable to hear over a drink or coffee after a show.

So, if you are in NYC at the time of her show, I urge you to attend and say hello.

best,

I have the same question, but will not be there until May.(Sorry, Barbara-maybe you'll get extended?) I read August:Osage and while that in no sense means I shouldn't go, I'd like to see something else.

Has anyone seen "Sleepwalk With Me"?

"EXIT THE KING" starring Geoffrey Rush and Susan Sarandon.

Here is what I would see, hands down, no questions asked.

Sounds like theatre at its absolute best!

I did not know it, but I know one of the actors in the show. Excellent.

http://theater2.nytimes.com/2009/03/27/theater/reviews/27ione.html?

The review starts: "This has to be the liveliest death on record."

Go.

I may make a premature trip to NYC just to see it...and some others.

best,

I don't know if you've gone on your trip or not yet, but if you haven't, can I suggest "God of Carnage"? They've won a TONY award, and the cast looks phenominal :)

Hope this helps,

Sami

I ended up seeing Next to Normal and thought it was great. Well deserved win for Ripley and all around a touching, tough show.
