Can anyone direct me to a source for locating a musical composer for a high school/community theater play? Also, any info about the financial aspects of collaborating would be appreciated. Possible new direction for me, but lacking a lot of info.

Try your local college/university or high school orchestra conductor. They may be interested in it themselves, or be able to recommend a very capable student that would like the experience.

And, get EVERYTHING IN WRITING! Below is the story of "A Chorus Line" and their lack thereof. It happens so many times in other partnered shows as well.

Remember the legal adage, "The shakiest ship that ever sailed the Seven Seas is a Partnership."

If you need an attorney, get one. If you can not afford one, at least get something in writing and have it signed/dated by you and your partner and two other people as witnesses and never lose it. I am not sure if the Dramatists Guild has a standard contract for this or not. You can contact them.

And good luck with it.
