Hello, I am writing a play based on a jazz composer, but I'm having a couple of issues. First is an issue of breadth. There are several events I would like to include within his life, but it would cover 20 years of his life. Another idea would be to take a smaller amount of time, and try to go in depth with the particular time frame. The drawback is that it misses many great events that I feel are pertinent to the story, but I feel like most of the events are glossed over if I cover more time. Quality vs Quantity.

The other issue is trying to fit it within the 3 act structure. It is proving very tricky to solidify a story goal. Please advise in any way possible. Thanks!
