Just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to the folks here. I'm sure you don't remember, but a few years ago (three?), I was here asking for ideas for how to make some things happen with my Cinderella adaptation play I was working on. Since I'd never produced a play, I had no idea how certain things could be done (like how could her dress magically change?), and y'all gave me some great ideas that helped me over the big ol' block in my brain about it. Sooooo, the play sat and sat and suddenly I got interested in it again, pulled it out and finished it. Tah-dah! ANNIERELLA & the (VERY AWESOME) GOOD QUEEN FAIRY COWMOTHER was born!
I submitted it to a festival, but since it was too long, one of the guys asked if I could shorten it to a ten-minute play? I didn't hesitate, and spent two days rewriting the whole thing. It actually made it more funny, and better, I think.
So today I got word that the short version of ANNIERELLA is a SEMI-FINALIST in the festival! Woohoo! It's the SUMMR SHORTS 4: Celebration, YOUTH EDUCATION ON STAGE in Williston, ND.
Please let us know how it goes with the play production!>
Hi there! It's not a sure thing yet, but I'm hopeful. I actually never thought it would get finished, to tell the truth. I've been so burned out on other types of writing over the last ten years, writing the plays was the way I broke through it.
