WINTER BREAK - Chicago

April whispers promises through flung-open windows in January

Ceiling fans swirl a soft breeze through the house

Like a mother cooing comfort to her new-born babe

Fattened squirrels nimble as chubby Circus performers

Leap branch to branch through pines and birches

Dogs walking owners tarry along the road

Like late-evening lovers hesitating to stroll home

Battered city snow-plows

Painted with whimsy of school children’s art

Now rest deservedly

Clairvoyantly

Enjoyed, IMR. Winter is a bit like Jekyll & Hyde, methinks. Am digging out from a blizzard amid sunshine and reasonable temps.

apt ending here: ...deservedly,
Clairvoyantly
