Hi all,
I've written the book and started writing lyrics for my musical, The Gringo Who Stole Christmas, a Latinx-themed comedic twist on A Christmas Carol. I'm seeking to collaborate with a Latinx composer, preferably with some lyricist experience, who can draw on genres such as salsa, merengue, mariachi and hip-hop to create an authentic-sounding musical.
While loosely structured like A Christmas Carol (Scrooge-like character, three ghosts, etc.), Gringo uses song and humor to explore a question central to the immigrant experience: Can newcomers succeed in America without abandoning their ethnic heritage? Gringo poses the idea that our accents should not be stigmatized, but rather celebrated as an expression of individuality.
I am not seeking to hire someone, but rather to find a teammate who is excited by the project and eager to see the musical through to completion.
