Me Ma always had
a sliced pan on the table
a pot of scalding tea
and broken biscuits

Hungry bellies
waiting for her
to peel away the golden cap
on the milk bottle
to see who got the cream

The heel of the pan
covered in strawberry jam
greatly in demand
butter and sugar sandwiches

Oh my dear, you took me back over 70 years
to our dairy farm in upstate New York
and my grandparents who brought me up

Same golden cap
with the cream on the top
jam was mostly crab apple jelly
she made and filled shelves in the cellar
along with all the fruits and vegetables from Pop’s hard work

Alas
I was too young to recognize and appreciate
their selfless giving
where love was not a word
where love was the fruit of their labor

What a joy
a sweet and warm feeling
a beautiful rememberance
thank you

Have always loved a name like 'Me Ma'

...we used to have an old farmer guy, Henry, come to the house (eggs, milk, etc.) when I was a kid. Mom made him stay on the steps b/c he always had manure on his boots.

You are a writing machine, potabasil. Write On.

Does anyone have any info about InMediaRes? He's not answering his PM's I have sent him. Please PM me if you have information. Thank you.
