She's laying in the bed
all day, sick
I go to the chemist
to get her an antigen test

Stopping at the vegetable shop
to get the fixings for a
healthy rustic farmers' soup
that will pick her up, I tell myself

Carrots, onions, leeks, courgettes,
celeriac, cauliflower
and vegetable stock
Parsley, thyme, basil, and garlic
a la Marco Pierre White

Whilst I was out, she found
a spare antigen test kit
negative, she announces
as I walk in the door

Not a bother to her
in the mirror
painting her face
brushing the eyelashes

Drying the locks
not a bother to her
she's going out to
Holly's birthday dinner
